Each assembled unit is inspected under a magnifying glass to identify any defects in component positioning or soldering. We also utilize automated optical inspection with one Mirtec MV-3L and one Mirtec MV 3 OMNI 3D, capable of detecting and immediately reporting any pin-level defects in components with pitch as small as 16 mils. Our X-ray inspection station allows for even more detailed inspection of Neclo PCBs to uncover any defects in individual substrate layers.

Yes. Nelco's N4000 and N7000 series grades with a glass transition temperature (Tg) of 200°C and above are compatible with lead-free reflow soldering at peak temperatures up to 260°C. Before applying for lead-free assembly certification, please verify the Tg and thermal stress performance of the grades you are using (T288 test according to IPC TM-650 2.4.24.1).

Please include the complete grade (e.g., "Isola N4000-13 SI, 0.5 mm core"), target dielectric constant (Dk) and loss factor (Df) values, test frequency, impedance requirements and tolerances, IPC rating, surface finish, and any mixed stack-up details. Vague specifications like "high-frequency laminate" or "low-loss material" will result in the factory calling for clarification—or worse, they might substitute with materials not approved by you.

Nelco lamination costs 30% to 80% more than FR-4, depending on the grade, in addition to extra manufacturing costs. A typical 10-layer Nelco N4000-13 board can cost 50% to 70% more than an equivalent FR-4 board in low-volume production. This cost difference narrows as production volumes increase, and the cost advantage is often offset by avoiding costly board rework due to signal integrity failures.
