Yes. Pure PTFE and ceramic-filled PTFE substrates are chemically inert to standard alkaline permanganate solutions used in FR-4 PCB decontamination remover. To ensure the reliability of plated through holes, the PTFE hole walls must be activated using plasma detergents or chemical etching with sodium naphthalene. Non-PTFE thermosets, such as RO4350B or Astra MT77, do not require plasma treatment.
For high-frequency RF signal traces, immersion silver is the preferred solution because it has low surface resistivity and minimizes conductor losses due to skin effect. ENIG is suitable for components using fine-pitch SMT components, while ENEPIG is suitable when passive intermodulation is a concern. HASL is not recommended for RF applications.
